Those with initiative, mindful, clean in action,

Welcome to the Mindful Leadership System
One of the things I tell our community members (http://www.b-coach.com
is that coaching by and of itself is usually not the most
efficient solution. The reason for this is that people need to
be able to "integrate" the coaching they are getting. While most
coaching, as we know is one to one consulting (which isn't
necessarily bad)...there is a lot of research (Argyris, et al)
that indicates that MOST of the time, coaching, advise or
counsel is just not "actionable."
Over the past 7 years I've created and tested how powerful a
program Mindful Leadership becomes when it becomes the front-end
for coaching leaders. You see, I believe that most people make
pretty good decisions when they have good information. When
people don't have very good information, then decision-making
becomes a real unpredictable phenomena. My goal is to give
leaders information. Usually, unless they are already mindful of
how they tick personally, I NEVER start with 360s, as I see most
people in training and coaching doing!
What kind of information do leaders need?
For the most part, leaders need information about themselves.
From self-discovery and disclosure comes self and other
acceptance which may be at the root of a lot of leadership
dysfunction. I've found over a period of time, when I can help
leaders get the information and data they need, learn from that
information and turn that knowledge into effective
decision-making, they are able to begin to utilize 360
(multi-rater) data and coaching MUCH more efficiently. Until
then, the tendency is for leaders to resist or not become able
to make actionable the 360 data.
As a blind man feels when he finds a pearl in a dustbin,
so am I amazed by the miracles of awakening rising in my
consciousness. It is the nectar of immortality that delivers
us from death, the treasure that lifts us from death, the
treasure that lifts us above poverty into the wealth of
giving to life, the tree that gives shade to us when we roam
about scorched by life, the bridge that takes us across the
stormy river of life, the cool moon of compassion that calms
our mind when it is agitated, the fun that dispels darkness,
the butter made from the milk of kindness by churning it
with the dharma. It is a feast of joy to which all are
invited.
-adapted from the Bodhicharyavatara by Shantideva
The Mindful Leadership System is different
Now, many people will approach "mindfulness" different that this
program. And frankly, mindfulness when used as a spiritual
approach or when used as a touchy-feely approach, doesn't gain
many followers in the business. I don't think anyone would
disagree regardless of what domain you come from that
mindfulness is fostered through self-awareness.
I've discovered that if we help leaders learn about how they
represent reality, learn how they learn, understand their own
worldview, traits, desires and preferences...and add to that how
they are currently addressing change...leadership often improves
dramatically with no other intervention. Why?
Self-knowledge and self-directedness is a powerful change agent.
Most of us are undifferentiated in our own understanding of what
makes us tick, especially the unconscious drivers of our
behavior. The Mindful Leadership System helps you and leaders
learn to communicate differently. They begin to see, hear,
touch, taste and feel the world differently. Their attribution
of meaning shifts. We call it a change in the subject/object
relationship, but leaders don't necessarily need to know that,
nor would they benefit much from that abstraction.
What does work with leaders...
Is to show leaders data on how they tick. From that point on, we
find engagement not only a possibility, but a probability. Once
you as a leader begins to understand your own world, you begin
to understand the world around you in a much different way...in
some cases much more appreciatively and almost certainly with
higher levels of emotional intelligence.
If you want to make an impact on leaders, this program can show
you the way. Once you've participated in the program, you'll see
how easy it is to present the program to leadership. I've never
seen a leader who didn't want "more" after experiencing this
program and participating in the workshop.
There is just something about learning when YOU are the topic!
Not only that, we'll add you to our list of mindful leader
stewards and help you find clients when people ask us for
mindful leadership coaches!
The training program for the Mindful Leadership System is
delivered over the phone and internet for a total of 9 hours.
The classes are recorded and archived for your listening at any
time over your computer.
We've been training leaders and coaches for some time and we've
created a system that creates data around the following package
of assessments:
- Representational Style
- Learning Style Inventory
- Personal Interests, Attitudes and Values
- DiSC: Trait Based Inventory
- Thomas-Kilman Conflict Mode
- Reiss Profile of Motivational Sensitivity
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Step II
- Change State Indicator
This system of assessments creates a portfolio approach to
understand yourself and the people you coach. It leverages your
time with people as well as providing them with a MAP of their
pre-wiring.
Question: How does the system work?
The system is used in conjunction with either individual or
group coaching and walks the participants through the data
created through the assessments. This exploration can be done
personally or with a team and creates bonding experiences for
the people involved during the process.
This training for this system requires 9 weeks of 1 hr long
sessions, excluding the assessment time for training, but can be
delivered in as little as a half-day, although this is a minimum
and not recommended unless follow-up coaching is designed for
the group or individuals.
You can expect to emerge from this experience with significantly
more in-depth knowledge of yourself, teammates, your coaches or
leaders. This is critical to engaging the people you coach as
well as identifying further differentiated strengths and
limitations as you move into problem solving.
REMEMBER: The most efficient way to increase leverage around
performance is to facilitate self-knowledge. The second most
efficient way is to learn what motivates people to higher levels
of motivation.
If you're interested in joining our cadre
of mindful leaders, the program begins soon.
