Development for Leaders
Series II
1-Minute Daily
Day 13
SUBJECTIVITY
There are multiple streams of development and there are multi-faceted ways in which to inform our Self-Knowledge and Self-Awareness (SKSA) journey.
I use “perspective” to represent the amazing work that Dr. Theo Dawson has done with Fischer’s Skill Theory which she calls Lectica.
With the fundamental belief that skill development occurs over a person’s developmental lifetime, skill theory looks at giving, getting, and seeking perspectives, how we argue using our mental models, and how much collaboration is involved… along with demonstrating what most would probably call cognitive complexity.
DENSITY & FREQUENCY can really be helpful at this stage because the quality and quantity of perspectives, argumentation, and collaboration skills can be identified as belonging to a particular stage complete with its benefits and risks.
It might be starting to feel to you that development is pretty complicated; it can be for sure.
Yet, having some terminology and models of development often, by and of themselves, deepen our SKSA Journey.
Perspectives, argumentation, collaboration, and cognitive complexity are all important terminologies, tools and skills to enhance our development of SK and SA.
I look forward to introducing you to the variety of assessment tools that can be instrumental in helping you language and describe your development map and territory.
