Development for Leaders
Series III
1-Minute Daily Microcasts
Day 4
[LI] Make Helping Conscious
Since I’ve been at this for some time along with the application of many successful failures, I gradually was able to unpack what I coined as Helping Functions: (things all of us do to some extent without thinking much about doing it)
• Cuing
• Scaffolding
• Supporting
• Lifting
• Protecting (Nurturing)
• Guiding
• Reaching Out
• Helping People Have Lives
While these microcasts aren’t ideal for discussing complex-interrelated constructs, they do provide a way for me to offer you language with which to prepare you for deeper visceral learning experiences that are available in our virtual and f2f experiential programs.
The interesting thing I can make explicit is that all of these constructs are in play with any and all of you unconsciously because these are all-natural learning and adaptive systems, which I have differentiated and given this specific language.
In order to bring the learning to consciousness to wire our unconscious responses in the moment, it’s necessary to first unpack what’s going on and label it for discussion, debate, and practice.
