19 LEARNING STYLE MODEL
Daily Development for Leaders
Here’s a heuristic I devised from the model of Kolb’s assessment:
Do you learn through: -experience -observation -conceptualisation -experimentation
Or some combination of those positions in the learning style.
When you add Kolb’s descriptors to the four constructs in the “cycle of learning” you can, almost without the survey questions, plot your favored approach.
The assessment is quick and helpful if you’re interested and takes only a few minutes. It’s a pillar in my SKCP because it helps explain why my behaviour is affected by how I learn—active experimentation: a quick synthesiser, decide and move on.
If you have been reading along, you can see how a SKCP as a puzzle fits together.
My type easily becomes a “serial entrepreneur” and my SKCP warns and limits my ideation TALENT out of most leader situations for which I can but am not well-suited.
THIS a KEY POINT: Just because you can doesn't mean you should!
Having this knowledge as a leader improves your LEADER DESIGN and your emergent performance and satisfaction over time.
Probably one of the central contributors to Leader Affect is Learning Style,
